Staff and board


Marcos Kisil is a strategic consultant and founder of the Institute for the Development of Social Investment. Before that, he worked as the Region Director for Latin America and The Caribbean at the W.K. Kellogg foundation, being responsible for its programmatic and strategic development. He is a physician at the Universidade de São Paulo's Medical School and devotes himself mostly to health administration. He has a Ph.D. Degree in Business from George Washington University, Washington, DC, USA, where he was granted with a scholarship from The W.K. Kellogg Foundation. He also worked as a consultant for The Organização Pan-Americana de Saúde (The Pan-American Health Organization). He currently performs academic activities as a Full Professor at The Universidade de São Paulo's School of Public Health and is a member of the boards of Resource Alliance and SAVE Brazil – affiliated with BirdLife International. Marcos Kisil is Senior Fellow of Synergos and a member of the editorial council for Alliance Magazine. He is the author of the books "Comunidade - Foco de Filantropia e Investimento Social Privado" (Community – The Focus of Philanthropy and Private Social Investment) as well as "Tendências do Investimento Social na América Latina" (Private social investment trends in Latin America).


Paula Fabiani is IDIS's CEO. Previously, she was the financial director of Maria Cecília Souto Vidigal Foundation and controller of Akatu Institute. Paula served in the Private Equity area of Votorantim Group and at one of the invested companies. She worked at BankBoston with asset management and M&A and at Lloyds Bank with trade finance. Author of the books Endowments – Establishment and Management in Brazil and Early Childhood - Overview, Analysis and Practice. She has a Bachelor's in Economy from the FEA-USP, holds an MBA from the Stern School of Business – New York University, has an executive education in Endowment Asset Management from the London Business School and Yale as well as in Nonprofit Sector Management from FGV. She is the only Brazilian accredited SROI practitioner by Social Value UK. She is a member of the Network of Political Action for Sustainability - RAPS, member of the board of Captamos, member of the board of Escola Aberta do Terceiro Setor and member of the board of Vladimir Herzog Institute.

Technical Team

Andrea Wolffenbüttel is IDIS's communication director. She is a journalist, and she has a System Analysis degree, as well as a specialization in Economics. She has worked as a writer for companies like O Estado de S.Paulo (The State of São Paulo), SBT, and CBS News (USA). She has managed Gazeta Mercantil's Data and Research Center and was an editor for the Desafios do Desenvolvimento (Development Challenges) magazine, published by the UN's Development Program and the Instituto de Pesquisa Econômica Aplicada (IPEA, the Institute of Applied Economic Research). She was a communication and press relations coordinator at the Secretaria Municipal de Transportes de São Paulo (The Municipal of São Paulo's Transportation Department), including Companhia de Engenharia de Tráfego (CET – the traffic engineering company) and the public transportation manager at SPTrans. In the third sector, she has acted as communication and content manager for Instituto Akatu for Conscious Consuming and, more recently, in the same position at Fundação Maria Cecília Souto Vidigal.

Andrea Hanai is Project Manager at IDIS. Previously, she was Relationship Manager in the Corporate Banking area of Banco Sudameris and Banco ABN AMRO Real, and Corporate & Investment Banker in the Global Banking & Markets area of Banco Santander Brasil. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Economics from FEA-University of the State of São Paulo, an MBA in Finance from Insper and an International Master's Degree in Sustainable Development and Social Responsibility from EOI - Escuela de Organización Industrial de Madrid, where she specialized in inter-sectoral partnerships for development.

Celina Yamanaka is the financial manager at IDIS, where she has been working since February 2011. She worked for almost 8 years in the administrative and financial area at UNESCO – the United Nations for Education, Science, and Culture Organization, focused on accounting, having started her career in the Third Sector there. She was the administrative and financial coordinator at Instituto Akatu, later working at the Instituto de Defesa do Direito de Defesa (The Institute for the Defense of Defense Law) and at Associação Casa Azul (The Blue House Association), where she was the administrative director. She studied Accounting at Universidade de Brasília (UnB – The University of Brasília) and has a specialization in Finance from The Fundação Getulio Vargas (The Getulio Vargas Foundation).

Guilherme Sylos is partnerships manager. A ten years career at the third sector and business startup working in the areas of planning, marketing, financial, fund-raising, commercial and operational. A professional with experience in many sectors. Founder of the Sociedade do Mar NGO and co-founder of Make-A-Wish Brazil where he worked as VP, member of the fiscal board and CEO. Large experience in negotiations for fundraising... Specialist in leadership and, g volunteering. Graduated in Hotel administration by Renascença University has MBA in project management at Fundação Getúlio Vargas.

Liliana Guimarães is IDIS' Projects Trainee. A member of Brazil's bar association, she graduated from Fundação Getulio Vargas' Law School and was an exchange student at Institut d'Études Politiques de Paris (Sciences Po Paris). Re cently, she also gratuated in Public Administration at Fundação Getulio Vargas.

Olivia Navarro Castello Branco is a project analyst at IDIS. She worked at Ulhôa Canto, Rezende e Guerra Advogados in the areas of estate and tax planning. She holds a law degree from Fundação Getulio Vargas, São Paulo, Brazil, and underwent an academic exchange program at the University of Tilburg, the Netherlands, where she studied international law and human rights.

Raquel Altemani is IDIS' planning coordinator since May 2017. Before IDIS, she worked 3 years at Nielsen Brazil, engaging in project management, processes optimization and performance management, through the development and analysis of governance models and key performance indicators. Previously, she worked in Quality Standards at several financial institutions, including ibi Bank, Votorantim Bank and CBSS Bank, mapping and optimizing processes, performance and reducing organizational risks and implementing new products and platforms. She has a bachelor degree in Business from FEA-USP since 2003.

Rita de Cássia Almeida is the administrative assistant at IDIS. She is an Accounting Technician with a degree in Financial Administration from UNIBAN in São Bernardo do Campo. She worked as an accounting assistant at Veneziani Auditores Independentes (Veneziani Independent Auditors) for 9 years. She joined the nonprofit sector as an administrative assistant at IDIS between 2005 and 2009 and after that as administrative analyst at The Instituto Rukha (The Rukha Institute).

Thais Ferreira is communication assistant at IDIS. She graduated in international relations with emphasis in marketing and international business at Escola Superior de Propaganda e Marketing (ESPM).



Maria Lúcia Almeida Prado e Silva Silva graduated from The Faculdade de Direito da Universidade Católica de São Paulo (The Catholic University of São Paulo's School of Law) in 1979. She specialized in International Law at The University of Texas' Southwestern Legal Foundation in 1988. She was appointed as "Leading Lawyer in Her Field" by the directory Análise advocacia (societal). She is a member of IDIS's advisory board, a member of CESA (Center of studies of lawyers' association Societal committee), a member of the communication and marketing area editorial committee of IBEF ( Brazilian institute of finance executives) and the partner in charge of the societal area of Demarest.


Walter Piacsek graduated in Business Administration at Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV-SP) and holds an MBA from Harvard Business School. He served as a partner and president of the business consulting The Boston Consulting Group at Brazil. He also was Votorantim Bank executive vice-president and worked for several years in corporate banking at Citibank. Currently, he is the partner in charge of operations for the Apax Partners' equity fund in Latin America. He is member of the board in The Ayrton Senna Institute, of CREN and is associated to YPO (Young Presidents Organization).


Hélio Nogueira da Cruz is chief of the Economy Department at FEA-USP, where he got his master, Ph.D and lecturer degrees, with a postdoctoral degree from Yale University (EUA). He served as vice-rector of Sao Paulo University (USP) and is a member of the curators board of FIPE (Economic Research Foundation Institute), Fuvest (USP Foundation for Vestibular) and of Zerbini Foundation, also a member of the Fiscal board of Maria Cecilia Souto Vidigal Foundation and Butantan Foundation Institute.

José Guimarães Monforte is an economist graduated at the Catholic University of Santos. He is partner at Consulting Emax, president of the administration board of Eletrobras, President of the consultive boards of Premix and Elos Institute. Member of the consultive board of Cristalia laboratory and of the britsh school for creative arts, member of the administration board of Cyrela, member of the state companies of BM&F Bovespa governance committee. He was part of the development of the Brazilian Institute of corporative governance, been a member of the board in 2002, Vice-president of the board in 2003 and board's president from 2004 to 2008. He served as an executive in many banks and companies like BANESPA, Merrill Lynch Bank, Citibank NA Bank, Energy VBC S/A and Janos Commerce, administrations and holdings LTDA, serving in Brazil and abroad.

Luiz Sorge is CEO of BNP Paribas Asset Management, in Brazil. He graduated in Electric Engineering, holds an MBA from Fundação Armando Álvares Penteado/SP and from Fundação Getúlio Vargas/SP. Sorge has been working at the Asset Management sector for 20 years. Before BNP Paribas, he worked at HSBC and CCF. He is president of IBCPF - Instituto Brasileiro de Certificação de Profissionais Financeiros (Brazilian Institute of Finacial Professionals Certification), diretor of ANBIMA - Associação Brasileira das Entidades dos Mercados Financeiro e de Capitais (Brazilian Association of Financial and Capital Markets), and member of the board of BancoEstado S.A. Administradora General de Fondos (BEAGF) - Chile. Additionally, Sorge holds a CFP® certification.

Marcos Kisil is founder, member of the board and senior analyst of the Institute for the development of social investment (IDIS). Before that, he served as the Latin America and Caribbean region director of W.K. Kellog Foundation been in charge of the programmatic and strategic development at the foundation. He is a doctor graduated at the Medicine School of Sao Paulo's University, and dedicated to the field of health administration, with PhD in administration by the George Washington University - Washington-DC (USA), with scholarship at W.K. Kellogg Foundation. He also served as a consulter of the Pan-Americana health organization. Currently, he performs academic activities as a full professor at University of Sao Paulo's public health school and is a member of SAVE Brazil's council – affiliated with Bird Life International, McDonalds Institute, IDEAH Foundation, and of the Sao Paulo's Jewish museum. He was founder and served as the board's president at GIFE – group of Institutes, Foundations and Companies, founder and council's board at WINGS – Worldwide Initiative in Grantmarking Support. He served as the superintendentof the WCF/Brazil Institute and of Maria Cecilia Souto Vidigal foundation. Marcos Kisil is a senior fellow at Synergos and Beltsman and member of the editorial board of alliance magazine. He is the author of some books, such as "Comunidade: Foco de Filantropia" (Community – The Focus of Philanthropy) and "Investimento Social Privado e Tendências do Investimento Social na América Latina" (Private Social Investment and Investment Trends in Latin America) and many others articles in national and international publications about philanthropy and social investment.

Raul Cruz Lima is Director of RCL Comunicação, which provides consulting in communication and marketing. He works in political campaigns. He is part of the Deliberative Councils of IDIS and the Vladimir Herzog Institute. He was a journalist (Veja, Estadão) and an advertiser (Salles, Lintas, JWT, Denison). He has always worked for large companies, national and international. He was a copywriter, Creation Director, Vice President, and then a partner and President of Denison Propaganda (sold to WPP). It has accumulated more than 400 national and international awards. He was President of the Creation Club of São Paulo. He made political campaigns (Montoro Governador SP- 1982, Presidentialism- in Plebiscite 1993, Alckmin Prefect SP- 2008, Beto Richa Governador PR-2014). He worked for the third sector, creating campaigns like Juréia (SP, in 1988), Declaration of Rights of the Future Generations (for Jacques Cousteau, in the 50 years of the UN in 1995) and, more recently, Forest makes the Difference Brazilian Forestry, for more than 50 Civil Society entities.

Regina Vidigal Guarita is a social entrepreneurial, founder and president-director of the Arte Despertar Association. She is an member of the consultive board of Rodrigo Mendes Institute, of Itaú Excelência Social/FIES Found, the Sao Paulo's volunteering center (CVSP) and member of the deliberative council of the Institute for the Development of Social Investment, she was curator board's president of Maria Cecilia Souto Vidigal foundation and art and creation director at Melhor Comunicação, an agency of incentive marketing.

Zilda Knoploch is a social entrepreneurial, founder and president-director of the Arte Despertar Association. Fiscal Board


Priscila Pasqualin is a specialist in Third Sector Law, and for more than 20 years, she offers tax juridical, corporate, contractual and regulatory guidance to NGO's. She also offers legal guidance to companies and families that want to invest in the third sector or in Social Business. She is a partner of PLKC Lawyers, in charge of the new philanthropy, third sector and socioenvironmental responsibility sector. She also serves as executive director and one of the founders of Spiralis Institute. She is juridical and third sector relationship director of Reciclagem do Adolescente Institute - RECICLAR. She also served in major lawyer offices in Brazil, such as Carvalho de Freitas e Ferreira and Lawyers Demarest Almeida, she was holder partner at Lawyers Pasqualin, and law office in Sao Paulo, which she directed with the senior partner, especially in the tributary, societal, contracts and third sector areas.


Luciano Antonio Prates Junqueira has a degree in Social Sciences from the University of São Paulo (1969), a PhD in Philosophy - Studium Generale Santo Alberto Magno (1962), a master's degree in Public Health from the University of São Paulo (1979) and a Ph.D. University of São Paulo (1996). He is currently Full Professor at the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo, Coordinator of the Nucleus of Advanced Studies of the Third Sector - NEATS / PUCSP, was Coordinator of the Program of Postgraduate Studies in Administration of PUCSP; was assistant professor of the Catholic University of Santos until 2012. He coordinates studies and research in public policies and third sector in the universities that participate, conducting training courses and researches in the area of ​​social policies and third sector. He has experience of consulting and research in the area of ​​Health Administration, working mainly in the following subjects: social management, public policies, especially health, third sector, administration and public organization, decentralization, intersectoriality and human resources. Participates as author of articles in the main scientific journals of the area of ​​administration (Qualis A) and as a reviewer of the same. He participates in editorial boards of specialized journals and, as a consultant, of national and international health agencies. Coordinated the UNISANTOS Social Incubator until 2012.

Maria José De Mula Cury is a partner at PriceWaterhouseCoopers. She holds a degree in Countable Science and Economic Science by the Pontific Catholic University in São Paulo (PUC-SP) and graduated at the international corporative governance and capital market for executives program – BI International. She has an experience of 28 years in external, auditory and guidance in the Brazilian financing market, evolving financial demonstration revisal that are prepared according to the countable practices in Brazil, like the U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP) and the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) international norms. In charge of several internal control revising works, corporative governance processes, restructure and revise of due diligence works and internal control processes. She is part of the Finance and Economic Brazilian Institute (IBEF) and is a member of the Brazilian association of international banks (ABBI).
