Staff and board


Marcos Kisil is a strategic consultant and founder of the Institute for the Development of Social Investment. Before that, he worked as the Region Director for Latin America and The Caribbean at the W.K. Kellogg foundation, being responsible for its programmatic and strategic development. He is a physician at the Universidade de São Paulo's Medical School and devotes himself mostly to health administration. He has a Ph.D. Degree in Business from George Washington University, Washington, DC, USA, where he was granted with a scholarship from The W.K. Kellogg Foundation. He also worked as a consultant for The Organização Pan-Americana de Saúde (The Pan-American Health Organization). He currently performs academic activities as a Full Professor at The Universidade de São Paulo's School of Public Health and is a member of the boards of Resource Alliance and SAVE Brazil – affiliated with BirdLife International. Marcos Kisil is Senior Fellow of Synergos and a member of the editorial council for Alliance Magazine. He is the author of the books "Comunidade - Foco de Filantropia e Investimento Social Privado" (Community – The Focus of Philanthropy and Private Social Investment) as well as "Tendências do Investimento Social na América Latina" (Private social investment trends in Latin America).


Paula Fabiani is IDIS's CEO. Previously, she was the financial director of Maria Cecília Souto Vidigal Foundation and controller of Akatu Institute. Paula served in the Private Equity area of Votorantim Group and at one of the invested companies. She worked at BankBoston with asset management and M&A and at Lloyds Bank with trade finance. She has a Bachelor's in Economy from the FEA-USP, holds an MBA from the Stern School of Business – New York University, has an executive education in Endowment Asset Management from the London Business School and Yale as well as in Nonprofit Sector Management from FGV. Author of the books Endowments – Establishment and Management in Brazil and Early Childhood - Overview, Analysis and Practice and she is the only Brazilian accredited SROI practitioner by Social Value UK. She is a member of the Network of Political Action for Sustainability – RAPS and member of the board of Vladimir Herzog Institute.

Technical Team

Ana Paula Lie Otani Ana Paula Lie Otani is IDIS' projects trainee. Internationalist graduated at ESPM, attended a voluntary exchange program in Australia and a short term exchange at McGill University. Worked as a intern at Instituto Ayrton Senna.

André Lara is project manager at IDIS. With more than 15 years of experience, he has specialized on strategic planning, change management, project and process management, KPI structuring and routine management, while focusing on subjects such as innovation, sustainability, and philanthropy. He has a degree on engineering at Unicamp, MBA at FGV and, before joining IDIS, he worked at Instituto Votorantim, Natura and other companies.

Andrea Wolffenbüttel is IDIS's communication director. She is a journalist, and she has a System Analysis degree, as well as a specialization in Economics. She has worked as a writer for companies like O Estado de S.Paulo (The State of São Paulo), SBT, and CBS News (USA). She has managed Gazeta Mercantil's Data and Research Center and was an editor for the Desafios do Desenvolvimento (Development Challenges) magazine, published by the UN's Development Program and the Instituto de Pesquisa Econômica Aplicada (IPEA, the Institute of Applied Economic Research). She was a communication and press relations coordinator at the Secretaria Municipal de Transportes de São Paulo (The Municipal of São Paulo's Transportation Department), including Companhia de Engenharia de Tráfego (CET – the traffic engineering company) and the public transportation manager at SPTrans. In the third sector, she has acted as communication and content manager for Instituto Akatu for Conscious Consuming and, more recently, in the same position at Fundação Maria Cecília Souto Vidigal.

Andrea Hanai is Project Manager at IDIS. Previously, she was Relationship Manager in the Corporate Banking area of Banco Sudameris and Banco ABN AMRO Real, and Corporate & Investment Banker in the Global Banking & Markets area of Banco Santander Brasil. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Economics from FEA-University of the State of São Paulo, an MBA in Finance from Insper and an International Master's Degree in Sustainable Development and Social Responsibility from EOI - Escuela de Organización Industrial de Madrid, where she specialized in inter-sectoral partnerships for development.

Felipe Insunza Groba serves as project coordinator at IDIS. Previously, he was responsible for institutional relations and fundraising with large donors at the Estudar Foundation, and at Anfavea, where he was chief economist and foreign trade manager. He holds a master's degree in Applied Economics and Public Policy Assessment from the Universidad del País Vasco (UPV / EHU) and a postgraduate degree in Philanthropic Studies at the University of Kent, and a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of São Paulo (FEA-USP).

Guilherme Sylos is partnerships manager. A ten years career at the third sector and business startup working in the areas of planning, marketing, financial, fund-raising, commercial and operational. A professional with experience in many sectors. Founder of the Sociedade do Mar NGO and co-founder of Make-A-Wish Brazil where he worked as VP, member of the fiscal board and CEO. Large experience in negotiations for fundraising... Specialist in leadership and, g volunteering. Graduated in Hotel administration by Renascença University has MBA in project management at Fundação Getúlio Vargas.

Laís Faleiros is Project coordinator at IDIS. Before joining IDIS she acted as an independent researcher in the areas of monitoring and assessment for socioenvironmental projects. She also served as researcher and administrative manager at Plan Avaliação. She has a master's degree on Organization Management and Public Systems at UFSCAR and is graduating on Public Administration at UNESP.

Luisa Lima is the Communications Coordinator at IDIS. Previously, she was the Institutional Communication and Citizenship manager at Edelman, a global Public Relations agency. She also worked at Itau Social Foundation, where she was responsible for the development and management of the corporative volunteer program. At Significa, a consulting firm specialized in Brand Attitude, Luisa developed projects to strength the relationship between brands and their publics through causes and contents. Luisa holds a business administration degree at São Paulo University (USP) and is postgraduate in Globalization and Culture at FESPSP and in Advocacy and Public Policies by FGV. She has also worked as volunteer for organizations at Brazil, India and Turkey.

Luna Yukiko Kaneta da Silva is an intern at the communications department at IDIS. She is graduating on Public Administration at FGV and does volunteering at NGO Cidadão Pró-Mundo. Before, she also did an internship at the Environmental Secretary of the city of São Paulo.

Raquel Altemani is IDIS' finance manager, after two years working as project manager at IDIS. She also worked 3 years at Nielsen Brazil, engaging in project management, processes optimization and performance management, through the development and analysis of governance models and key performance indicators. Previously, she worked in Quality Standards at several financial institutions, including ibi Bank, Votorantim Bank and CBSS Bank, mapping and optimizing processes, performance and reducing organizational risks and implementing new products and platforms. She has a bachelor degree in Business from FEA-USP since 2003 and a graduate degree on Strategic Management of Sustainability from FIA since 2019.

Rita de Cássia Almeida is the administrative assistant at IDIS. She is an Accounting Technician with a degree in Financial Administration from UNIBAN in São Bernardo do Campo. She worked as an accounting assistant at Veneziani Auditores Independentes (Veneziani Independent Auditors) for 9 years. She joined the nonprofit sector as an administrative assistant at IDIS between 2005 and 2009 and after that as administrative analyst at The Instituto Rukha (The Rukha Institute).

Ruth Goldberg is an Assistant Consultant at IDIS. Graduated in Occupational Therapy from São Paulo State University (USP), with specialization in Public Health from USP and management of nonprofit organizations from FGV-SP. Holds an MBA in management and social entrepreneurship from FIA. She has served governments, companies, associations, foundations and institutes always in the area of ​​citizenship and social development. Today, she participates in boards of entities and as a member of IBGC. Ruth has experience in project and entity management and vision to elaborate strategic planning and governance model. She has worked on leadership development, youth mobilization and social innovation initiatives.

Sophia Góes serves as project analyst at IDIS. Previously, she worked as a project manager at the Collaborative Base, and as relationship manager at Phi Institute, where she advised social investors in their philanthropy, guiding the choice of supported organizations and monitoring the impact of donations. Psychologist graduated from PUC-SP, Sophia also acted as a psychotherapist. She holds a Master's degree in Management for Competitiveness, in the Sustainability field, from FGV, and a postgraduate degree in Social Innovation Management, from Instituto Amani. She worked as a volunteer at Instituto Fazendo História and the Saúde Criança Association.óes-0187856b/



Luiz Sorge is CEO of BNP Paribas Asset Management, in Brazil. He graduated in Electric Engineering, holds an MBA from Fundação Armando Álvares Penteado/SP and from Fundação Getúlio Vargas/SP. Sorge has been working at the Asset Management sector for 20 years. Before BNP Paribas, he worked at HSBC and CCF. He is president of IBCPF - Instituto Brasileiro de Certificação de Profissionais Financeiros (Brazilian Institute of Finacial Professionals Certification), diretor of ANBIMA - Associação Brasileira das Entidades dos Mercados Financeiro e de Capitais (Brazilian Association of Financial and Capital Markets), and member of the board of BancoEstado S.A. Administradora General de Fondos (BEAGF) - Chile. Additionally, Sorge holds a CFP® certification.


Walter Piacsek graduated in Business Administration at Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV-SP) and holds an MBA from Harvard Business School. He served as a partner and president of the business consulting The Boston Consulting Group at Brazil. He also was Votorantim Bank executive vice-president and worked for several years in corporate banking at Citibank. Currently, he is the partner in charge of operations for the Apax Partners' equity fund in Latin America. He is member of the board in The Ayrton Senna Institute, of CREN and is associated to YPO (Young Presidents Organization).


Alex Pinheiro is the Executive Director of Educational Technology and Digital Transformation at Somos Educação. He is also co-founder and CEO of EDUMOBI. He was co-founder and director of Motrix Mobile and managing partner of HANDS MOBILE S.A. He received the 20th Global Mobile Awards - GSMA's Best Innovation for Education and Learning. Alex studied engineering at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro. He is a volunteer in some organizations in Rio de Janeiro focused on the mental health of childhood and adolescence.

Hélio Nogueira da Cruz is chief of the Economy Department at FEA-USP, where he got his master, Ph.D and lecturer degrees, with a postdoctoral degree from Yale University (EUA). He served as vice-rector of Sao Paulo University (USP) and is a member of the curators board of FIPE (Economic Research Foundation Institute), Fuvest (USP Foundation for Vestibular) and of Zerbini Foundation, also a member of the Fiscal board of Maria Cecilia Souto Vidigal Foundation and Butantan Foundation Institute.

Luciana Tornovsky holds a bachelor's degree in law from PUC-SP, a master's degree in law from Harvard Law School and an ITP-International Tax Program from Harvard University. She worked at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher. She is director of the Closely Held and Growing Business Enterprise Committee of the International Bar Association (IBA). She is a vice president of the Harvard Law School Association of Brazil and a member of the Executive Committee of the Harvard Law School Association. She attends the Harvard Business School Angels of Brazil and is a Co-Chair in Brazil of the Harvard Women Alliance. Head of Demarest Advogados Corporate Social Responsibility area, which includes Social Responsibility, Diversity and Pro Bono activities. Member of the Lawyers Council for Civil and Economic Rights in the Americas, an initiative of the Cyrus R. Vance Center for International Justice, linked to the New York City Bar.

Luciano Antonio Prates Junqueira has a degree in Social Sciences from the University of São Paulo (1969), a PhD in Philosophy - Studium Generale Santo Alberto Magno (1962), a master's degree in Public Health from the University of São Paulo (1979) and a Ph.D. University of São Paulo (1996). He is currently Full Professor at the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo, Coordinator of the Nucleus of Advanced Studies of the Third Sector - NEATS / PUCSP, was Coordinator of the Program of Postgraduate Studies in Administration of PUCSP; was assistant professor of the Catholic University of Santos until 2012. He coordinates studies and research in public policies and third sector in the universities that participate, conducting training courses and researches in the area of ​​social policies and third sector. He has experience of consulting and research in the area of ​​Health Administration, working mainly in the following subjects: social management, public policies, especially health, third sector, administration and public organization, decentralization, intersectoriality and human resources. Participates as author of articles in the main scientific journals of the area of ​​administration (Qualis A) and as a reviewer of the same. He participates in editorial boards of specialized journals and, as a consultant, of national and international health agencies. Coordinated the UNISANTOS Social Incubator until 2012.

Marcel Fukayama é um empreendedor de impacto, sobrevivente de um câncer e construtor de catedrais. Ele esteve envolvido em diferentes iniciativas na nova economia. Co-fundador da Din4mo com objetivos de capacitar empreendedores que resolvem problemas sociais e desenvolver estruturas inovadoras que direcionam capital para famílias de baixa renda e empresas sociais. Co-fundador do Sistema B Brasil para fortalecer a comunidade B Corp e redefinir o sucesso nos negócios. Atualmente, ele é o diretor executivo do Sistema B Internacional. Mestre em Administração, MBA e Mestre em Administração Pública pela London School of Economics. Ele está comprometido em trabalhar com a sociedade social e os formuladores de políticas e inspirar inovação e novas políticas públicas. Ele coordenou a Campanha da Presidência do Brasil de Marina Silva e Eduardo Jorge (REDE / PV) em 2018. Anteriormente, foi pioneiro ao criar um dos primeiros cibercafés do Brasil aos 17 anos de idade e atuou como CEO da CDI Global, trabalhando com um rede em 15 países para usar a tecnologia para mudança social.

Marcos Kisil is a senior fellow at Synergos and Beltsman and member of the editorial board of alliance magazine. He is the author of some books, such as "Comunidade: Foco de Filantropia" (Community – The Focus of Philanthropy) and "Investimento Social Privado e Tendências do Investimento Social na América Latina" (Private Social Investment and Investment Trends in Latin America) and many others articles in national and international publications about philanthropy and social investment.

Raul Cruz Lima is Director of RCL Comunicação, which provides consulting in communication and marketing. He works in political campaigns. He is part of the Deliberative Councils of IDIS and the Vladimir Herzog Institute. He was a journalist (Veja, Estadão) and an advertiser (Salles, Lintas, JWT, Denison). He has always worked for large companies, national and international. He was a copywriter, Creation Director, Vice President, and then a partner and President of Denison Propaganda (sold to WPP). It has accumulated more than 400 national and international awards. He was President of the Creation Club of São Paulo. He made political campaigns (Montoro Governador SP- 1982, Presidentialism- in Plebiscite 1993, Alckmin Prefect SP- 2008, Beto Richa Governador PR-2014). He worked for the third sector, creating campaigns like Juréia (SP, in 1988), Declaration of Rights of the Future Generations (for Jacques Cousteau, in the 50 years of the UN in 1995) and, more recently, Forest makes the Difference Brazilian Forestry, for more than 50 Civil Society entities.

Fiscal Board


Priscila Pasqualin is a specialist in Third Sector Law, and for more than 20 years, she offers tax juridical, corporate, contractual and regulatory guidance to NGO's. She also offers legal guidance to companies and families that want to invest in the third sector or in Social Business. She is a partner of PLKC Lawyers, in charge of the new philanthropy, third sector and socioenvironmental responsibility sector. She also serves as executive director and one of the founders of Spiralis Institute. She is juridical and third sector relationship director of Reciclagem do Adolescente Institute - RECICLAR. She also served in major lawyer offices in Brazil, such as Carvalho de Freitas e Ferreira and Lawyers Demarest Almeida, she was holder partner at Lawyers Pasqualin, and law office in Sao Paulo, which she directed with the senior partner, especially in the tributary, societal, contracts and third sector areas.


Fernando Shayer is a founding partner and CEO at Camino Education. He was Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of Somos Educação, the largest K-12 Company in Brazil, serving more than 33 million students. He also served as Vice President of the Educational Solutions Business Unit, Vice President of Schools Relationship and taught English at Curso Anglo and at Somos Educadores, a social impact project designed to provide underserved youth with quality university preparation courses. He is member of the Board of Directors of Associação Nova Escola, working closely with the Lemann Foundation to support the millions of teachers served by the organization. Before founding and leading Camino, Fernando was a managing partner of Tarpon Investimentos, a partner at Machado, Meyer, Sendacz and Opice Law Offices and as an international attorney for Skadden, Arps, in New York City.

Maria José De Mula Cury is a partner at PriceWaterhouseCoopers. She holds a degree in Countable Science and Economic Science by the Pontific Catholic University in São Paulo (PUC-SP) and graduated at the international corporative governance and capital market for executives program – BI International. She has an experience of 28 years in external, auditory and guidance in the Brazilian financing market, evolving financial demonstration revisal that are prepared according to the countable practices in Brazil, like the U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP) and the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) international norms. In charge of several internal control revising works, corporative governance processes, restructure and revise of due diligence works and internal control processes. She is part of the Finance and Economic Brazilian Institute (IBEF) and is a member of the Brazilian association of international banks (ABBI).


Established in 1999, the Institute for the Development of Social Investment (IDIS, in Portuguese) is a public interest non-governmental organization that was a pioneer in providing technical support and consultancy for social investors in Brazil and Latin America. IDIS facilitates the participation of individuals, families, companies and communities in strategic social actions that bring social change and help reduce social inequalities in the country. Committed to promote and structure private social investment as a tool for the development of a more equitable and sustainable society, IDIS acts in two ways: by developing proactive initiatives and by meeting the demand for technical support of companies, foundations, institutes, families and individuals.
